September 23rd's Primetime Emmy Awards WTF Vspot

by 8:14 PM
There's only 45 minutes let as I finish my grade-card for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards and I'm not sure whether just to be amused by this year at the attempts of being funny and/or risque or disgruntled by the lack of wins of Downton Abbey (3-16) and New Girl (0-2). But here's the best points of the night!!

New personal goal: Dress as well as Jessica Lange when I'm her age (OK, and also now.)

At Least It's Better than Last Year, Julian Fellowes!

I intend to see the glass is half full with a dash of being slightly empty on this one. But there is one great difference between Downton Abbey at the Emmy's last year versus this year: someone on the board decided it was more than a movie/mini-series and worthy of more than its four wins from last year. That should be a victory in itself, well that and Maggie Smith receiving the Supporting Actress award two times in a row. As thrilled as I am that she won (seniority win... there's always one) I was secretly hoping for Joanne Froggatt for her amazing acting in season 2's finale! Luckily they had also won tonight for Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) and Hair Styling for a Single Camera Series  which depresses me for one reason: is Downton nothing more than a fashion-plate for Hollywood?

Key tweets from @voguegasm on this subject:
  • Violence and drugs wins out on classic British actors who can act their way out of a paper bag without American embellishments. FAIL!
  • I want to lick Hugh Bonneville's beard.

OMG! Hugh O'Brien just passed out on TCM!

Winners I Can Get Behind

Jessica Lange
  1. Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family winning Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy (despite Max Greenfield losing *sigh*)
  2. Julianne Moore from Game Change winning Best Lead Actress in a Movie/Mini Series because playing Sarah Palin must be really really draining!
  3. Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Veep winning Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for the interaction with Amy Poehler between a victory hug and getting their acceptance speeches getting mixed up!
  4. Glenn Weiss for 65th Tony Awards winning Outstanding Directing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special while directing Emmy's simultaneously.
  5. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart winning Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series. A solid 10 years!
  6.  Jessica Lange for American Horror Story winning Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries because... well... LOOK AT HER! I hope I look that good at her age!
  7. Danny Strong for Game Change winning for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special because it... is.. DOYLE FROM GILMORE GIRLS, BITCHEZ!!
  8. Kevin Costner for Hatfields and McCoys winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Movie or Miniseries because, he's still sexy and he's still got it!

"Mandy Patinkin... Holla!" - Claire Danes

Holy Josh Groban singing One Direction I WANT THIS MP3... and where did my panties go?

List of Things That I Want:

  1. A picture of a still of Mindy Kaling at the very beginning with that gangsta hand movement. #Legend
  2. A GIF of Jon Stewart getting wrestled to the ground by Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert #TripleLegend
  3. Kat Denning's breasts.
  4. A youtube clip of the back and forth between Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K. (probably the only thing I laughed hard at all night)

Oh c'mon!! Betty White deserves awards more than a guy who makes homoerotic jokes towards Maxim on DWTS. NEXT!
